KUCHING, Feb 5: The Federation of Kuching, Samarahan and Serian Divisions Chinese Association has today handed out 300 ‘Our Roots’ goodie bags to spread some joy of the festive season to families affected by the floods recently.

Organiser Nicholas Hon revealed in a press release that the goodie bags filled with biscuits, snacks and beverages have been handed to 300 families in Kuching, Samarahan and Serian districts.

Under its ‘Our Roots, 1 for 1 Giving Charity’ campaign, Hon said there are still about 100 goodie bags available for sale before the Chinese New Year.

“We hope that the public and corporate companies can extend their kind assistance to help us clear these goodie bags and contribute to the needy,” he said.

Under the campaign, every goodie bag sold will be donated to the needy with a message card attached on it.

Hon also expressed gratitude to fellow Malaysians and friends, especially those living overseas, for their support in this campaign, that has enabled non-profit organisation Hope Place in collaboration with the Federation to aid the needy during this festive season.
