KUCHING, Dec 7: Kibing Group, a globally recognised leader in the glass manufacturing industry and listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, is exploring the possibility of investing in a solar glass manufacturing facility in Sarawak.
This intention was conveyed during a meeting with a Sarawak delegation, led by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, at Kibing’s state-of-the-art facility in Shaoxing, near Shanghai, on Dec 6.
The proposed solar glass project aligns with Sarawak’s development strategy, strengthening the local ecosystem and supporting efforts to transition towards low-carbon industries and green energy.
Awang Tengah expressed his support for the proposal, noting that it would complement the Sarawak’s mining and manufacturing sectors, which are key components of Sarawak’s Post-Covid Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
“Sarawak welcomes investments that contribute to our goals of achieving economic prosperity, social inclusivity, and environmental sustainability,” he said in a press release today.
The delegation also toured Kibing’s advanced manufacturing facility, which employs cutting-edge automation in production.
Kibing’s global supply chain serves top companies, including Tesla, Saint-Gobain, Oppo, and BYD.
The Sarawak delegation included Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment Sarawak (Mintred) advisor Dato Seri Naroden Majais, permanent secretary Dzulkarnain Masron, Land and Survey Department director Awang Zamhari Awang Mahmod, Invest Sarawak CEO Timothy Ong, and Recoda CEO Datuk Ismawi Ismuni. — DayakDaily
