BEIJING, Dec 5: A leading Chinese company is in discussions with the Sarawak government regarding a proposal to establish a cutting-edge petrochemical plant in the State yesterday (Dec 4).
The project will see the company collaborating closely with a strategic local partner, committed to utilising its expertise to contribute to Sarawak’s industrial and economic development
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan welcomed the proposal, highlighting the economic and technological benefits the project could bring to the State.
“The Sarawak government is committed to fostering partnerships that promote sustainable industrial growth and innovation.
“We (Sarawak) look forward to the company’s feasibility study to assess the project’s viability and its impact on the development of Sarawak,” said Awang Tengah who is also the Minister of International Trade, Industry, and Investment (MINTRED).
The Sarawak delegation included MINTRED advisor Dato Seri Naroden Majais, permanent secretary Dzulkarnain Masron, Land and Survey Department director Awang Zamhari Awang Mahmod, InvestSarawak CEO Timothy Ong, and Recoda CEO Datuk Ismawi Ismuni.
The company is recognised as one of China’s Top 500 Private Enterprises, brings advanced technology, 20 registered patents, and a strong research and development (R&D) capacity in petrochemicals. — DayakDaily
