Charred remains of 68yo man found in Kampung Halud Matu house fire

DARO, Oct 27: The charred remains of a 68-year-old man were found inside a house razed by a fire in Kampung Halud Matu here.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak reported that the victim’s remains were found near the house’s main entrance.

The Bomba operations centre received a distress call at 2.51am and immediately dispatched a team from the Daro Station to the scene.

Tragically, the house, which housed five occupants, was entirely consumed by the flames.

Firefighters acted swiftly to contain the fire and extinguished it by 5.10am.

Subsequently, the authorities handed over the victim’s remains to the police for further investigation.

A team from the Civil Defence Force Sarawak was also on site.

The circumstances surrounding the cause of the fire and the extent of the loss incurred are still under investigation. — DayakDaily
