KUCHING, May 30: The International Symposium on Digital Industry Transformation which will be held on June 7 and 8, 2022 at Centre of Technical Excellence Sarawak (Centexs) Kuching aims to inspire Sarawakians to create digital apps.
Centexs chief executive officer Syeed Mohd Hussien Wan Abdul Rahman said the symposium will serves as a platform to share knowledge on technology and digital industries with participants and subsequently give them the heads-up and exposure to take up careers in these fields.
“Sarawak has a lot of talent but they lack exposure. For example, Grab (technology company) was founded by Malaysians but the company migrated to Singapore. Now, everyone is using Grab. Lazada and Shopee are also from Malaysia.
“Now we want Sarawak to have such talents as well. We do not want to become users only. We want to produce creators of such technology apps,” he said at a press conference at Centexs Kuching in Santubong today.
The symposium will be officiated at by Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg on the first day.
The two-day event aims to benefit participants through direct guidance and knowledge-sharing by industry players such as Huawei, Aeon Reality, Keysight Technologies, Bosch, Schlumberger, Microsoft, IBM and Petrosains.
The symposium is among the various programmes to be held in conjunction with the first Centexs Sarawak Digital Carnival from May 27 to June 20, 2022.
The carnival is also one of the special features introduced under the State’s 5th International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (IDECS) which is to be held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) this June 21 and 22.
