CENTEXS Digital Tech Event 2022: Learn digital skills to get ready for future of work

KUCHING, June 4: Digital knowledge and skills are vital and highly valued as Sarawak, like the rest of the world, moves toward the digital age. But are you ready for the future of work facing technologies?

There are opportunities now to gain, explore, develop or even enhance digital literacy skills through CENTEXS Digital Tech Event 2022, happening now until June 20 that offers a broad range of workshops and training for free to help students, graduates, working adults and any Sarawakian thrive in the digital world.

Below are the line-up of workshops and programmes to take part in:-

Tomorrow (June 5), the Community Technical Outreach Programme: Introduction to Digital Marketing, a workshop on how to use and leverage online marketing, is conducted in Mukah starting from 8am to 5pm, followed by Lawas on June 8 and Kuching on June 11.

June 7 to 20 from 9am to 4pm at CENTEXS Digital Academy Kuching — Bringing Immersive Technologies to Foster STEM Take-Up encourages students to get an enriching experience in Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and Mixed Reality (MR) that has blurred the lines between the physical and digital world.

June 8 from 8am to 5pm — Android Application Development Workshop introduces participants to the operating system and how to develop software applications on mobile platforms, which will kick off in Lawas, followed by Miri on June 11, and Sarikei on June 18.

June 11 from 8am to 5pm at the auditorium of DBKU headquarters, Bukit Siol — Tech Talk with Centre of Technical Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS) is where people can find out how their skilling, reskilling, and upskilling programmes can help participants meet changing job demands and stay relevant and valuable.

There are also five paid courses conducted in collaboration with industries at the CENTEXS Digital Academy in Kuching. So don’t miss the opportunity to sign up today.

They are 5G Business Solutions Training on June 9 and 10 (9am to 4.30 pm), Internet of Things Fundamental Workshop (June 10, 9am to 4pm), Fiber Optic Splicing for technicians involved in the installation of OSP fibre networks (June 14, 9am to 4.30pm), Wireless and Microwave Hardware Installation Training to enhance the competency of local sub-contractors capability (June 14-17, 9am to 4.30pm), and Introduction to XR Development (June 18, 9am to 4pm).

CENTEXS Commercial Sarawak also welcomes the public to its Open Day on June 8, where visitors will get the opportunity to feel and see for themselves the technologies available at the centre for learning purposes as well as to attract young people who want to explore programmes offered in the field of digital technology and technical skills.

Meanwhile, some 255 participants have signed up to be part of the International Symposium on Digital Industry Transformation 2022 slated to be held on June 7 and 8 at the multipurpose hall of CENTEXS Digital Academy Kuching, in which Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to officiate at.

The two-day symposium, which is the highlight event of the Digital Carnival, aims to benefit participants through direct guidance and knowledge-sharing by industry players such as Huawei, Aeon Reality, Keysight Technologies, Bosch, Schlumberger, IBM and Petrosains.

These programmes for the Digital Carnival are designed in the lead-up to the 5th International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (IDECS) to be held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) this June 21 and 22.
