Caring Food Aid 2.0 distributes nearly 500 food packs to needy people

KUCHING, Nov 13: The Kuching and Samarahan Division Hawkers and Traders Association, through its Caring Food Aid 2.0 programme, distributed nearly 500 food packs for those in need throughout the city yesterday.

According to the association’s advisor Dato Sim Kiang Chiok, the food packs were delivered to three non-governmental organisations (NGOs) for them to distribute to their members and people in need.

The NGOs were CHKMUS-MAA Medicare Kidney Charity Dialysis Centre which received 250 food packs, Kuching Blind Centre (86 packs), and Der Kuching Chung Welfare Association (150 packs).


“We are pleased that we are able to assist our members and people who are facing hardship due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We are grateful to our main sponsor 38 Food Street Cafe as well as various generous private sponsors who have contributed to the first and second edition of the initiative.

“Since September until today, we have given out nearly 6,000 food packs,” he said in a statement today.

The Caring Food Aid 1.0 programme that started from June until August gave out 300 cooked meals daily. — DayakDaily
