Car thieves suspected of multiple thefts around Kuching arrested

KUCHING, July 17: Two men believed to be linked to car theft have been arrested in two different locations in Kuching on Friday.

“The police forces managed to arrest the two suspects approximately aged 35 and 44 years old base on the information,” Kuching District Police Chief, ACP Awang Din Awang said in the press statement.


“The arrest was made during the ‘Ops Lejang’ operation where the first suspect was arrested at Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman on Friday at 0.15am while the second suspect was arrested at Kampung Stutong Baru on the same day at 1am,” Awang added.

According to Awang, the police believed the suspects had been involved in several car theft cases in Kuching and further investigations were being held.

“Police had also confiscated a car with five different car keys and various tools in it from one of the suspects,” Awang added.

Awang pointed out that the suspects stole cars by using a master key or forcefully opening the door locks on the car.

“The suspects tested positive for Methamphetamine in the drug tests and had more than 10 crime records,” Awang added.

He also urged the public to report to the police if they had any information about any crimes and the police will continue their aggressive action in taking down the criminal activity.—DayakDaily
