Car burning case: 2 suspects arrested

BINTULU, Feb 22: Police have nabbed two men, both aged 20, in connection with the burning of a Proton Iriz that was reported missing on Feb 20.

At about 4.25pm yesterday, firemen from Samalaju fire station rushed to an area near an oil palm plantation upon being alerted that a car was on fire.

Bintulu police chief Supt Zulkipli Suhaili said the duo was picked up by a team from Bintulu CID at 3am today in an operation codenamed `Ops Lejang’ at a village in Niah.

Police believed the duo had a hand in the fire incident that destroyed the car completely.

“Acting on a public tip-off, our team arrested the suspects at a village in Niah and seized a motorcycle,” said Zulkipli, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 379 A of the Penal Code for theft. — DayakDaily
