Cambodia fraud case: Two suspects remanded for four days

KUCHING, Feb 25: A couple who were arrested in relation to the recent fraud case involving 47 Malaysian lured to Combodia for alleged work opportunities will be remanded for four days, until March 1.

They were brought before the Magistrate’s Court here today by the state Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) for a remand application to facilitate further investigation of the case.

Magistrate Faelly Jeffrey Lanjungan allowed CCID to further remand the duo for four days.

The suspects, a male and a female, both 35, were arrested at 5pm yesterday (Feb 24) in two separate locations. The male suspect’s urine test returned positive for methamphetamine.

A mobile phone, ATM card and credit card were confiscated during the arrests.

The case will be investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code.

So far, police have received 23 reports in relation to the case. — DayakDaily
