KUCHING, June 28: Alfred Ayal, dubbed the Freddie Mercury of Indonesia, will lead the “I Want To Break Free! Queen Tribute Concert” at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) this July 30, 2022.
Alfred will be joined by one of Asia’s top guitarists, Alif Putra, who has played with Steve Vai on stage and performed as an opening act for Metallica, leading an amazing line up of powerhouse musicians, Killer Queen band.
The concert also features former Miss World Malaysia-turned-singer Dewi Seriestha, sape maestro Mathew Ngau and gifted tenor vocalist Michael King.
Queen is known worldwide as one of the biggest British rock bands and at its peak, comprised the late Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon. Among their greatest hits are “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “I Want To Break Free”, “Don’t Stop Me Now”, “We Will Rock You”, “We Are The Champions”, “Under Pressure”, “Another One Bites the Dust” and “Killer Queen”.
Sarawak Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah hoped that the concert will attract over 2,000 gig goers including tourists from Singapore, Indonesia and Peninsula Malaysia.
“There will be 24 songs. I am very sure it will be very entertaining from the start right up to the end.
“We are not able to bring Queen (rock band) on its own but we have Freddie Mercury of Indonesia and he is really, really good,” he said at a press conference about the concert held at Waterfront Hotel here today.
The concert is organised by Front Row Entertainment Sdn Bhd and the Music Must Go On (MMGO) music aid movement.
Ticket prices range from RM88, RM108, RM158 and RM500. The concert starts at 8pm.
