KUCHING, Dec 3: Food lovers are welcome to go on a ‘food hunt’ at Majma Mall Food Festival 2022 held at the Centre Court of Majma Tuanku Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah here.
The festival, which commences from Dec 1 until Dec 11, saw the participation of about 40 food and product entrepreneurs.
Of the total, 10 of them had received the Malaysian Halal Certification and they were invited to share their experience to encourage more entrepreneurs to obtain the Halal certificate.
As of November 2022, there are 680 premises with Halal certification in Sarawak which is an increase of 13.14 per cent compared to 601 premises last year.
Sarawak Association of Wives of Ministers and Assistant Ministers (Sabati) president Puan Sri Datuk Amar Jumaani Tuanku Bujang was present to officiate the festival today.
She also graced the ‘Maggi Masak-masak Kitchen’ at the festival where she had a light moment in demonstrating cooking skills together with Chef Muluk.
The event also witnessed the signing of memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) and Sarawak Islamic Council (SIC) to share data and information on Halal certification training, implement ‘transfer of knowledge’ on Halal affairs, sharing of expertise and other collaborations agreed together.
Next year, SIC plans to hold an International Halal Exhibition to provide a bigger opportunity for Sarawakian entrepreneurs in developing a competitive halal industry.
Also present were SIC president Datuk Misnu Taha and SEDC general manager Abdul Hadi Abdul Kadir. – DayakDaily
