Businesswoman goes to court after husband claims she punched him in the face

KUCHING, Aug 2: A businesswoman has claimed trial to a charge of punching her husband.

Ng Hui Ching, 39, pleaded not guilty to the charge framed under Section 323 of the Penal Code and read together with Section 326A of the same Code, which carries an imprisonment term of up to one year or a fine of up to RM2,000 or both upon conviction.

The charge was read before Magistrate Zaiton Anuar.

Magistrate Zaiton then fixed Sept 6 for case management and allowed the accused to be released on bail of RM800 and with one local surety.

Ng was found to have voluntarily caused hurt to her 46-year-old husband by punching his face while they were quarrelling at their house in Taman Hong Huat, Jalan Batu Kawa, at about 6.15pm on July 27, 2022.

As a result, the victim suffered swelling on his right cheek and blurred vision.

Prosecuting Officer Inspector Merylene Lindan Andrew Mang prosecuted while the accused was not represented by counsel. — DayakDaily
