KUCHING, Oct 31: A businessman was fined by the Magistrate’s Court here for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Mok Hoon Chong, 57, pleaded guilty and was fined RM2,200 or in default, one month’s imprisonment.
He was stopped by the authorities while driving a Proton Saga under the influence of alcohol during “Op Mabuk” in Jalan Tabuan. The alcohol level in his blood was measured at 94mg/100ml, at about 1.20am, on December 1, 2018.
The legal limit is 80mg in every 100ml of blood.
He was charged under Section 45A (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 which carries a fine of between RM1,000 and RM6,000, or a jail term of up to 12 months, upon conviction.
