MIRI, Feb 10: Thanks to a surveillance camera installed inside a tuition centre in Pujut Corner, a burglar who broke into the premises on the first day of Chinese New Year has been caught.
Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel, led by Inspector Mohammad Nashriq Noring, arrested the 20-something suspect, a local, in Pujut at about 9pm on Friday.
A handphone was seized from the suspect.
According to sources, three units of air conditioners were stolen from the tuition centre, which is located on the fourth floor of the building. The centre was closed during the break-in in view of the Chinese New Year celebration.
Miri deputy police chief Supt Sabri Zainol, when contacted today, confirmed that the suspect had been arrested and that the case was being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for house-breaking.
So, what happened to the three air conditioners that were reported stolen? According to sources, the suspect sold them on Facebook for RM300 each. — DayakDaily
