Bukit Assek rep hands over RM1 mln Unifor grant to Logos Methodist Church

SIBU, Oct 19: Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng has handed over a RM1 million grant from Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) to Logos Methodist Church.

The handover ceremony was held at Logos Methodist Church on Tuesday (Oct 18), according to a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas).

Chieng said the grant which was presented to church chairman Dr Renco Yong is for the implementation of new education programmes and new building construction projects due to the increase of believers in the church.


Meanwhile, Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian also handed over a RM1.5 million Unifor grant to Kuching Hokkien Association president Dato Richard Wee for the construction of a Mazu temple at Kampung Muara Tebas in Kuching yesterday.

Dr Sim, who is also Batu Kawah assemblyman, said this contribution was in addition to the same amount contributed by Unifor before the Covid-19 pandemic.

He added that the total allocation for the Mazu temple project has now exceeded RM5 million. — DayakDaily
