KUCHING, Nov 4: The BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) fuel subsidy limit for e-hailing drivers has been increased to up to 800 litres per month, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) announced today.
The new tiered eligibility scheme under the BUDI95 targeted subsidy programme will be activated in the middle of each month, ensuring a fairer and more inclusive distribution of subsidies while safeguarding the livelihoods of e-hailing and airport taxi drivers.
According to the MoF, the increase in subsidy limits will depend on the total distance travelled by each e-hailing driver in the previous month, as recorded by e-hailing operator companies (EHOs) and verified by the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) and the Commercial Vehicles Licensing Board (LPKP) in Sabah and Sarawak.
Under the new structure:
- Drivers travelling below 2,000 kilometres a month remain eligible for the original 300 litres subsidy cap.
- Those covering between 2,000 and 5,000 kilometres qualify for 600 litres in total.
- Drivers exceeding 5,000 kilometres are eligible for the maximum 800 litres of subsidised RON95.
“This step ensures that the total BUD195 eligibility for each tier is sufficient to cover the daily travel distance for most e-hailing drivers,” the ministry said in a statement.
It added that EHOs must submit accurate, valid and complete monthly travel records for their drivers to APAD and to the LPKP offices in Sabah and Sarawak at the beginning of each month.
The ministry also said the government will continue to monitor implementation and usage patterns to ensure the mechanism remains fair and sustainable for all parties in the long term.
As for airport taxis, operators can now apply for a fleet card through the Subsidised Petrol Control System (SKPS) under the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) to receive up to 800 litres of subsidised RON95 per month.
However, airport limousines whose fares are not regulated by APAD are not eligible for the SKPS fleet card scheme.
APAD and LPKP will issue further details on eligibility criteria for e-hailing drivers, while airport taxi operators may submit fleet card applications through the MySubsidi portal at https://mysubsidi.kpdn.gov.my. – DayakDaily
