KUCHING, Feb 22: Sarawak Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development (Infrastructure Development) Aidel Lariwoo hopes that the unity government will focus on sectors that affect the people of Sarawak during the retabling of Budget 2023 this Friday.

According to a TVS news report, Aidel stated that the sectors include allocations for infrastructure, housing, and the economy.

He is also optimistic that Budget 2023, which will be presented by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, will not only meet the needs of all levels of society, but will also not marginalise any party, particularly Sarawak’s.

In fact, he stated that the Prime Minister is also expected to introduce some new strategies to steer Malaysia’s economy in a better direction.

Aidel stated yesterday during his work visit to the Sungai Limbang Bridge construction site in Limbang that he does not expect much from the Federal government’s budget this time due to certain compositions or obstacles at the Federal level because they have just begun, but that the unity government has introduced new strategies to make changes.

Previously, the Prime Minister was reported to have stated that Budget 2023, which will be presented again, will not be bound by the issues presented by the previous government.

However, the previous budget’s proposals are still taken into account in the new Budget 2023 figures.

Also present at the site were Limbang Resident Yunus Tambi and Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) Limbang Division Acting Engineer Mahathir Jokeni. — DayakDaily
