Brunei man feared drowned after disappearing under Sg Pandaruan waters

Bomba personnel scouring the river for a 23-year-old Brunei man feared to have drowned.

KUCHING, Dec 25: Rescuers are desperately searching for a Brunei man feared drowned after he disappeared while swimming across Sg Pandaruan in Limbang yesterday evening.

A team of searchers and rescuers ccomprising Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Limbang, police, and Civil Defence Force personnel as well as villagers were involved in the search and rescue operation today.

They scoured the river for up to three kilometres for the 23-year-old man but he has yet to be found as of press time.


According to an initial report from Bomba Limbang, the victim was attempting to swim across the river which divides Brunei from Limbang.

After swimming across the river for about six metres, it was said that the victim had told his father-in-law, who was standing on the Limbang side of the river, that he was not going to make it (‘aku tidak dapat lagi’).

Then, he disappeared from the view of his father-in-law who witnessed the incident. — DayakDaily
