Breaking fast, building unity: Sarawak Premier joins leaders, community of all backgrounds for iftar

KUCHING, March 11: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg joined over 500 guests for a special ‘Majlis Berbuka Puasa Bersama Pemimpin dan Masyarakat’ (Iftar with Leaders and Community), underscoring the spirit of unity and togetherness during the holy month of Ramadan.

According to a TVS news report, Abang Johari arrived at around 6.45pm to a warm welcome from dignitaries, department heads, and community leaders at the event, which was held last night at the Atrium of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) here.

In a meaningful display of solidarity, the Premier shared the blessings of Ramadan with the attendees, strengthening bonds between leaders and the people.

Following the breaking of fast, Abang Johari joined other guests in performing the Maghrib, Isyak, and Terawih prayers in congregation.

The Isyak and Terawih prayers were led by Grand Imam of Sarawak, Dato Mustapha Kamal, at the DUS Surau.

Also present were Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian and Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, DUS Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, and Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki. — DayakDaily
