“This warning is issued when there are signs indicating thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20 mm per hour that are imminent or expected to persist for more than one hour.

“A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning, valid for no more than six hours from the time it is issued,” said the department.

Members of the public in affected areas are advised to remain vigilant, and residents living near rivers, slopes, or areas prone to flooding should monitor weather conditions closely and be prepared to take precautionary measures if conditions worsen.

Outdoor activities should be postponed where possible, while those at sea, on rivers, or engaged in recreational activities are advised to seek shelter immediately when thunderstorms occur. — DayakDaily
