KUCHING, March 1: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice president Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah has described Bozz Jebat’s recent insult towards Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg as “a cheap publicity stunt”.

Abdul Karim was commenting on the recent controversy of ‘Bozz Jebat’ identified as Zool Amali Hussin, a former United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) member based in Negeri Sembilan, who has insulted Abang Johari and criticised the Federal Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, in a video circulated on various social media platforms.

“I think Zool probably wants his name to be ‘trending’ on social media.

“Under the Federal Constitution, there is freedom of expression, which is a fundamental right, but you must know how to use that freedom properly. You cannot just use it to lambast, insult or incite racial disharmony,” he told a press conference at Baitul Makmur II here today.

Abdul Karim, who is also Sarawak Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP) and Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED), further criticised Bozz Jebat of not doing his homework and blindly accused Abang Johari of ‘sending’ Tiong to become a minister.

“Who appoints a federal minister? It’s not Abang Johari. The federal minister is appointed by the Prime Minister.

“However, I wouldn’t want to deliberate on this matter too much because his (Zool) level is too low for the State leaders to even comment. If he wants to insult our leader, look at the background of what we have achieved so far in the State.

“Well, cheap publicity you can get but it will not bring you anywhere. People will judge you based on the way you comment and insult here and there. That is not a very nice way to address our leader. Who are you compared to Abang Jo? Macam langit dengan bumi (absolutely different),” he added.

As of 11pm yesterday (Feb 29), the Sarawak police have confirmed that they have received 18 police reports so far against Bozz Jebat for insulting Abang Johari. — DayakDaily
