KUCHING, June 11: A teenager pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court today to raping an underage girl at a workers’ quarters in Jalan Matang, here, in January this year.
Both the accused and the victim are 15-years-old, and according to the facts of the case, the girl is now pregnant. Both of them got to know each other through Facebook.
Since the accused is underage, the court needed to look at his probation report before delivering sentence.
Magistrate Mohd Syukri Mokhtar fixed July 25, 2019, for the Welfare Department to tender the probation report.
The charge was framed under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code, which carries an imprisonment term not exceeding 20 years and liable to whipping, upon conviction.
