KUCHING, April 21: The Borneo International Water and Wastewater Exhibition and Conference (BIWWEC) which was scheduled to be held on Aug 17-19 this year at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), has been officially postponed to Aug 6-8, 2021.

In a statement, The Malaysian Water Association Sarawak branch chairman and BIWWEC organising chairman Chang Kuet Shian disclosed that the decision to postpone came amidst growing concerns from the organising committee on the current Covid-19 situation.

“We are fully committed in helping to contain and stop the potential spread of this virus.

“We will be in close communication with the Sarawak Health Department for latest updates on the Covid-19 situation in order to furnish a safe environment for our participants,” Chang, who is also the Sarawak Rural Water Supply Department director, revealed in a media release today.

The Malaysian Water Association Sarawak Branch, he added, truly valued the support given by all involved parties and they are working hard to further enhance the conference and offer a high quality event experience for all participants.

With the theme “Sustainability and Resilience, Overcoming Challenges of Water Grid through Smart Network”, the conference is Sarawak’s premier international congregation of water and wastewater experts.

It aims to work on active solutions and synergistic efforts to overcome water grid challenges.

The three-day conference, which would have featured 24 speakers, 53 exhibitors from across the region, was expected to attract 500 delegates.
