KUCHING, Nov 28: Borneo Highlands Glamping Festival 2.0 is set to welcome weekend campers and festival goers to the lush greenery of the highlands from Dec 13 to 15.
In announcing this, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry And Performing Arts, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, said the second edition of the biggest glamping festival in Borneo will feature 250 tents, nearly doubling in size compared to the 109 tents in the 2023 edition.
Abdul Karim elaborated that since its inception, the festival has attracted increasing interest and enthusiasm from not just local participants, but from around the region.
He added the festival this year will host participants from Indonesia, Singapore, China, Brunei, and Thailand.
He disclosed that the overwhelming response to the festival in 2023 has led to more enthusiastic campers from these countries, further cementing Sarawak’s reputation as a premier destination for international visitors.
“The biggest glamping event in Borneo is more than just a camping event, and the festival has become a flagship for eco-tourism attraction, combining nature, culture, adventure, and innovation.
“It reflects our shared vision to develop new sustainable tourism products that position Sarawak as a leading eco-tourism destinations,” he said at the press conference for the festival at his ministry’s office at Baitulmakmur II Building here today.
Abdul Karim explained that the festival will not only showcase Sarawak’s natural beauty but strengthen community ties, enhance regional connections, and highlight Sarawak’s ability to innovate in tourism.
The programme line-up includes traditional food and craft workshops, yoga and meditation, archery, kayaking, Zumba, food vendors, an outdoor expo, a mini concert, and a fire show,
“The ministry is committed to supporting events like this, which celebrate Sarawak’s unique heritage and bring people together,” he said.
Also present at the press conference were Kuching Resident Dayang Joanita Azizah Abang Morshidi, Borneo Glamping founder Awang Saifeluddin, organising chairman of BHGF 2.0 Shenton Tan, Tourism Malaysia deputy director Kevin Jantan, Sarawak Tourism Federation (STF) president Audrey Wan Ullok, and CEO of Puncak Borneo Development Sdn Bhd (LCDA) CEO Zuraimi Kushili. — DayakDaily
