‘Bon Gang’ housebreakers captured, ending thieving spree

The suspects are being brought to CPS for interrogation.

MIRI, Jan 8: Miri police succeeded in solving five housebreaking cases with the arrest of five local men dubbed the ‘Bon Gang’ on Tuesday night in three separate locations.

All suspects ages between 16 to 29 years of age were picked up during an operation carried out around 11pm led by Inspector Fred Juing.

According to Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah, three suspects were picked up in Bakam, with the remaining two in Bekenu and Kampung Lusut respectively.


The gang’s last house break-in was on December 28 last year whereby they broke into a house in Bakam.

During the break-in at Bakam, they carted away valuables worth RM15,000.

“They were also involved in robbing a self-service launderette in Bekenu,” disclosed Lim.

They are currently being placed under police custody at Miri central police station (CPS) for questioning.

The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking. —DayakDaily
