KUCHING, March 21: The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) carried out a special humanitarian service to transport a coffin using a rescue boat after the road was cut off due to flooding at Rumah Panjang Guntur in Kanowit today.
According to TVS, a Bomba spokesperson said a call on the incident was received at 11.15am, and firefighters from the Kanowit station were deployed.
“Upon arrival, it was found that the road leading to the longhouse was submerged in water. It could not be accessed by the vehicle used to transport the coffin containing the body,” said the spokesperson.
Bomba personnel, along with the deceased’s family, transferred the coffin containing the body onto the rescue boat and transported it via Sungai Ngemah, Rumah Panjang Guntur, to the Majau Bridge in Kanowit.
Once the coffin was brought to the longhouse, firefighters returned to the station. — DayakDaily
