KUCHING, Jan 22: A woman was rescued by firefighters this morning after she fell into an uncovered seven-foot-deep drain in front of a shopping mall here.
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the woman, aged 21, was on her way to work when she fell into the uncovered drain in the middle of the road.
She could not lift herself out of the drain as it was about seven feet deep. She suffered minor injuries on her foot as a result of the fall.
The fire and rescue department received a call about the situation at 6.08am. A team from the Padungan Bomba station was dispatched and they arrived at the scene at 6.13am. They immediately lifted the victim from the drain.
She was given first aid treatment by the Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) and was then taken to the Sarawak General Hospital for further treatment. – DayakDaily
