Thunderstorm lashes Kuching, fallen trees keep Bomba men on their toes

KUCHING, Oct 26: A late evening thunderstorm has caused several roads in the city and surrounding districts to be blocked by fallen trees.

According to Sarawak Fire and Rescue (Bomba) Department operation centre in a statement, as of 5.25 pm today, a total of 12 operations were carried out by six Bomba stations to remove the fallen trees, which also disrupted the traffic flow in certain areas.

The operations were carried out at Jalan Lintang, nearby Kuching Water Board (KWB) by Bomba Batu Lintang; Jalan Kampung Sinar Budi, Jalan Sawar in Bintawa, Jalan Dermaga (near Borneo 744) by Bomba Tabuan Jaya; Jalan Simpang Tiga (in front of Citadines and Swimburne) by Bomba Padungan; Jalan Haji Goebilt in Samariang and Jalan FAC Matang by Bomba Petra Jaya.

Meanwhile, three roads in Bau were also affected by fallen trees and the clearing operation was carried out by Bomba Bau involving Jalan Krokong, Jalan Kampung Bobak and at a road in front of SJK (C) Chung Hua Bau,

At the same time, one other clearing operation was carried out by Bomba Kota Samarahan in Jalan Kampung Tanjung Parang. –DayakDaily.
