Bomba puts out early morning trailer fire along Bintulu-Miri road

Firefighters from BBP Bintulu are seen putting off the flame which spread into the trailer back-load.

KUCHING, June 11: A trailer laden with used tires caught fire at Mile 8, Bintulu-Miri road early in the morning, today.

According to Sarawak Fire and Rescue (Bomba) department in a statement, they received the emergency call from the Malaysia Emergency Response Services (MERS) 999 regarding the incident at 1.13am.

A team of firefighters from BBP Bintulu, led by PBK II Herman Main, together with 12 others was deployed to the location, including one unit of Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) machinery, and Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) vehicle.


“Operation commander arriving at the location reported that a trailer was on fire, which started from the trailer’s back-wheel, and continued to spread over the back of the trailer which was loaded with used tires.

“However, the front-end of the trailer managed to be detached from the back-load, and the fire was successfully put out using a foam extinguisher, and also water from the Bomba tanker,” it said.

The statement added that no casualties were reported, and the operation ended at 3.38 am.—DayakDaily
