KUCHING, May 7: Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen’s house at Jalan Nyiur caught fire today.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre received a distress call at 4.54 pm, informing them of the fire in a room located on the second floor of the double-storey bungalow.
A total of 19 firefighters from Tabuan Jaya and Batu Lintang stations were immediately dispatched to the scene.
The fire had destroyed about 20 per cent of the room.
Chong, who is also former Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, was at home when the incident occurred.
No injuries were reported. —DayakDaily
