MIRI, April 11: Miri Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) suggested the state government do cloud seeding to help deal with the dry and hazy situations in several parts of Miri division.

Bomba Zone 6 chief Supt Law Poh Kiong made this proposal during the Miri Tourism Task Force meeting that was chaired by Assistant Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Lee Kim Shin here yesterday.

“Following frequent open burning incidents in Miri, several areas have recorded unhealthy air quality reading,” said Lee.

Subis district was the worst hit with more than 10 acres burned the past few days.

“Haze is also our concern because it affects our tourism sector,ā€ said Lee, adding that priority would be given to this issue. ā€” DayakDaily
