Bomba helicopter deployed to extinguish fires in Kuala Baram

MIRI, Aug 6: Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) deployed a helicopter from its Air Unit to extinguish forest and peat fires in Kuala Baram today.

Miri Bomba chief Law Poh Kiong said the helicopter which departed from its base at 10am, will use water bombing methods to extinguish and prevent the fires from spreading.

Yesterday, they managed to extinguish 1.6 hectares out of 17 hectares that were burning.

Seen is the Bomba helicopter heading towards Kuala Baram to assist in firefighting efforts.

Volunteer firefighters from Shin Yang and Naim Group of Companies are also assisting the firefighters by setting up fire breaks and trenches to prevent the fire from spreading to other areas. — DayakDaily
