BINTULU, July 7: A fire involving 12 diesel storage drums at an industrial premises here was brought under control by the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) this afternoon, with no casualties reported.
In a report from Bomba, a call was received at 12.52pm, and firefighters from the Kidurong station were deployed with assistance from the Bintulu station.
It was noted that the fire involved 12 oil storage drums, each with a capacity of 200 litres and containing diesel. The blaze did not spread to any factory structures.
Firefighters, wearing full personal protective equipment (PPE), deployed a 200-foot hose line supplied by a nearby fire hydrant, together with a Foam Making Branch nozzle and a drum of firefighting foam, to extinguish the fire.
No casualties were reported, and the cause of the fire and estimated losses are still under investigation. — DayakDaily
