LUNDU, Oct 23: Firefighters were summoned to Lundu Hospital, not for any fire incident, but to assist a heavily pregnant woman remove her wedding ring as her fingers had swelled.

Three firefighters, armed with their “ring cutter” tools, were dispatched to her bedside at 10.49am today.

It took the experts barely 10 minutes to get the job done.

“This is the woman’s first pregnancy and she was about to deliver her baby. Obviously she was very nervous but we manage to keep her calm,” firefighter Yarzeed Nazrin said.

Just as they leave the hospital, the Bomba personnel wished the mother-to-be a fast, safe delivery and headed back to their station. — DayakDaily
