KUCHING, March 23: The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) assisted a 76-year-old woman to receive treatment at the hospital after her house at Lorong Ling Kai Cheng 6 in Sibu was flooded on March 23.
According to a Bomba spokesperson, a call was received at 6.50pm, and firefighters from the Sungai Merah station were deployed.
“Firefighters helped to transport the woman, who was in a frail condition, to an ambulance provided by the Health Ministry.
“The pathway to her house was inundated by two-foot-high floodwater,” said the spokesperson.
Firefighters used a personal floating device with a stretcher and waded 500m through the floodwater from the main road.
“The victim was safely transported and handed over to Health Ministry officers for further action.”
The operation ended at 7.40pm. — DayakDaily
