KUCHING, Feb 25: A shop lot in Lambir Land District in Miri was 70 per cent destroyed after a fire broke out this morning.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre in a statement today said they received the call regarding the incident at 11.05 am, and a team of eight firefighters from Miri fire station led by PBK II Abang Mohd Fazil were deployed to the location.

“Firefighters arrived at the location found that the fire incident occurred in a shop lot at the second floor of the building, and performed the Rescue, Exposure, Containment, Extinguish and Overhaul (RECEO) method by utilising a two 300-feet water flow and two nozzles to tackle the flame,” it said.


According to the statement, firefighters also conducted ventilation works to reduce the smokes trapped inside the building after the flame was successfully extinguished.

Other agencies involved in the operation are the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Malaysian Armed Force (ATM) and Sarawak Energy personnel. –DayakDaily.
