Body of missing 8yo boy recovered from Sg Sabang in Asajaya

The boy's remains were recovered by SAR personnel before being handed over to the police.

KUCHING, Feb 23: An eight-year-old boy was found dead after he had fallen into Sg Sabang in Asajaya.

According to Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), his body was found by the public at 11.20am today, about one metre from where he had fallen into the water.

“The victim’s body was then handed over to the police for further action,” it said in a statement today.


The victim was reported to have fallen into Sg Sabang in Kampung Tambirat while playing at 4.50pm on Feb 22.

Following that, firefighters from the Asajaya fire station were deployed to the location to conduct a search and rescue (SAR) operation within a 500-metre radius from where the incident had occurred.

Among the agencies involved in the operation were Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), PDRM Drone Unit, Civil Defence Force (APM), People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) and Sarawak Coast Guard. — DayakDaily
