SARIKEI, June 23: The body of an unidentified man has been found at Express Boat Terminal 2 here yesterday.
Sarikei Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) chief, Mahmudin Narudin said his department had received a call from the Sarawak Rivers Board concerning a floating body in the river at about 2.47pm.
The body was discovered by a member of the public.
“When firemen arrived at the scene, they found it was true that there was a body floating in the water. We had immediately notified the police of the finding,” he said.
He added that firemen then used a boat to retrieve the body, which was later handed over to the police.
Members of the public with any information regarding the deceased’s identity are urged to come forward to assist the police. — DayakDaily
