MUKAH, June 24: The body of a 35-year-old man who fell into Sungai Alo on Monday (June 23) was recovered this afternoon.
According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Mukah, members of the local Fishermen Association discovered the body at around 3.15pm, approximately 300 metres from the location where the victim was last seen.
The second day of the search and rescue operation commenced at 8am, involving personnel from multiple agencies including the police, Civil Defence Force (APM), People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela), and villagers.
The operation initially focused on surface water searches within a one-kilometre radius from the incident site towards the Batang Mukah estuary.
Repeated sweeps were carried out, with search efforts later concentrated on the opposite riverbank and further downstream towards the estuary.
The remains were handed over to the police for further action and investigation. — DayakDaily
