MIRI, Dec 21: The body of a 24-year-old man, who was reported to have fallen from the Pujut 7 Bridge into the Miri River, has been found.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Lopeng confirmed that the victim’s remains were discovered at approximately 11.09am today, about one kilometre downstream from the spot where he was last seen.
The body was retrieved and transported to the Bomba operations control post in Kampung Pangkalan, where it was handed over to the police at 11.25am.
This discovery came on the second day of the search and rescue operation, which spanned from Piasau Bridge to Kampung Pujut 6.
Witnesses reported that on Dec 20, the man was swept away by strong currents and vanished from their sight after falling into the river.
A ground search began immediately after the Bravo team from Bomba arrived and gathered information from the victim’s family.
The operation involved surface water searches using boats and a ground search covering a two-kilometre radius. — DayakDaily
