[UPDATED] Body found in Sg Bintawa confirmed to be Hanafi missing since Feb 15

KUCHING, Feb 18: The body of a man found in Sungai Bintawa this morning was confirmed to be Mohamad Hanafi Mohamad Nassir, 35, who was missing since Thursday (Feb 15).

According to a report by the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), they received a call on the discovery around 10.40am before deploying a team from Tabuan Jaya Fire Station (BBP) to the scene.


“Upon arrival, the reported floating body in Sungai Sarawak has been retrieved by Marine police.

“The body was then brought to the jetty by the Bomba and the police,” the report said.

Based on the previous report, Hanafi went out of his home around 11pm on Thursday night and failed to return.

His father then lodged a police report at Batu Kawa Police Station on the night of Feb 16.

In a separate report, Padawan District Police Chief Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the case will be investigated as Sudden Death Report (SDR) by the Gita Police Station.

“The members of the public are advised not to make any speculations that could worsen the situation. The police also conveyed our condolences to the victim’s family,” he said. — DayakDaily
