KUCHING, Feb 18: Two 16-year-old teenagers’ bodies were found after they disappeared while taking a bath in the river located at Jalan Trusan Lawas in Lawas earlier this afternoon.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received the emergency call around 3:13pm and a team was despatched to the scene to conduct a search and rescue operation.
It was believed that at the time of the incident, one of the victims was swimming in the river but got into trouble and shouted for help from the second victim. The second victim jumped into the river to save the first but failed, and both of them then disappeared under the river water.
Search and rescue personnel found the first deceased around 5pm while the second deceased was found at 6:22pm.
The victims were later pronounced dead by medical personnel and the family members of the deceased were contacted. — DayakDaily
