Boat capsizes near resort in Batang Ai, status of passengers still unclear

LUBOK ANTU, June 1: A passenger boat has capsized near Aiman Resort in Batang Ai.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) in a statement said it received the emergency call via MERS 999 at 6.30pm, today.


Initial information provided by Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency revealed that seven passengers were seen in the water after the incident.

A team of firefighters led by PBK II Edwin Jonani from the Betong fire station were despatched to the scene, involving a 70km road trip that will take them about one hour 15 minutes to reach the site. — DayakDaily
