Board to supply water for Qingming Festival at 8th Mile Hokkien Cemetery in Kuching

KUCHING, March 27: The Kuching Water Board (KWB) is to provide water tanks during the Chinese community’s Qingming Festival period at 8th Mile Hokkien Cemetery, says Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng.

According to Wee in a statement today, the initiative is part of the KWBā€™s corporate social responsibility (CSR) project for the community.

ā€œThe Chinese community’s Qingming Festival is a significant tradition in Sarawak that reflects the respect and harmony among different religions and traditions.

ā€œWe appreciate and respect the values of each other’s traditions and hope that this gesture of goodwill will further strengthen the harmony and unity within our community,ā€ he said.

Wee also thanked the KWB for their support and contribution towards the Chinese community during this Qingming Festival.

Qingming Festival is an important traditional Chinese holiday. The main activity that people engage in on this day is cleaning the tombs of their ancestors. ā€” DayakDaily
