BN won Tanjung Piai by-election with a majority of 15,086

KUCHING, Nov 17:  Barisan Nasional (BN) has crushed Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the Tanjung Piai by-election with a landslide victory.

According to the official results of the Election Commission (EC), BN candidate Wee Jeck Seng won by a majority of 15,086 with 25,466 votes over his closest contender PH’s Karmaine Sardini who garnered 10,380 votes.

Other candidates – Gerakan’s Wendy Subramaniam managed to reap 1,707 votes while Parti Barisan Jemaah Islamiah (Berjasa) candidate Datuk Dr Badhrulhisham Abdul Aziz polled 850 votes.


Independents Dr Ang Chuan Lock and Faridah Aryani Abd Ghaffar garnered 350 and 30 votes respectively.

The voter turn-out rate was 74.43 per cent, amounting to 38,815 voters.  — DayakDaily
