KUCHING, Nov 3: Barisan Nasional (BN) will cooperate with Pakatan Harapan (PH) to prevent seat clashes in the upcoming Sabah State Election, says Deputy Prime Minister and BN chairman Datuk Patinggi Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
He said the foundation of forming the current unity government comes from the collaboration between PH and BN, with PH holding 82 seats and BN holding 30 seats, which provides the minimum majority required to establish the federal government.
“As for this (BN-PH) cooperation, we will first implement it in the Sabah State Election, using the same formula.
“We are also open to working with other coalitions and will not close the door to negotiations.
“However, we also won’t open the door too wide. These discussions will take place among the leadership of all coalition party leaders,” he told reporters during a press conference after chairing a Sarawak Development Project Implementation briefing at a local hotel here today.
An audio recording of the press conference was made available to DayakDaily after the function.
When asked about the purported differences of opinion between BN and PH leaders recently, Zahid clarified that they are individual opinions and not official party decisions.
“As long as the coalition party leaders have not made any statements, other views are individual opinions, and we do not take them as party decisions.
“Those are personal opinions, and we have resolved the matter within each party,” he added.
