KUCHING, June 18: Mohd Sharim Md Zain is the BN candidate for the Chini by-election.
The announcement was made by Barisan Nasional (BN)Pahang chief Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail at the United Malays National Organisation (Umno) Pekan division hall today.
According to media reports, Sharim, 41, is a local businessman and a committee member with the Pekan Umno division.
It was reported that Sharim, who is Kuantan Felda Youth Council chairman and a second generation Felda settler had previously served as an officer to the late Abu Bakar Harun, who was a three term assemblyman for Chini.
Meanwhile, the Chini by-election was called following the death of Abu Bakar on May 7 due to a heart attack.
The Election Commission has set the Chini by-election for July 4 with nomination day on June 20. — DayakDaily
