MIRI, Jan 31 : A civil servant in Miri lost RM12,000 after he fell victim to a love scam.
Miri OCPD ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said, a report was lodged by the victim, in his 20’s, on Tuesday (Jan 30).
Alexson said, the victim was fleeced by an unknown woman whom he befriended thorough Instagram.
Subsequently, they communicated via WhatApps.
“The victim only realised he had been duped, after the suspect kept on asking money from him, of which during that process, the victim had deposited cash amounting to RM12,000,” Alexson said.
The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating. — DayakDaily
