BKSS 9.0: Contractors allowed EOT up to 6 months under VOP 2.0

KUCHING, Aug 28: Contractors involved in public construction projects in Sarawak are allowed extensions of time (EOT) up to a maximum of six months subject to the condition stipulated by their respective agencies, says Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

This was among the areas covered under Variation of Price (VOP) 2.0 initiated by Sarawak government to cater for the increase in price of construction materials for all State-funded projects and to ensure the delivery of the projects.

ā€œThe Sarawak government is estimated to bear the cost of approximately of RM700 million for allowing the variation of price,ā€ he said when announcing the Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang (BKSS) 9.0 in a special press conference held at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.

VOP 2.0 will cover ongoing contracts with Letters of Acceptance (LOA) issued between Jan 1, 2021 until Dec 31, 2021.

There are 15 additional materials for building works added to VOP 2.0, namely RC square pile, concrete, steel (other than reinforcement bars), bricks and walls, glass, aggregate, ceiling, paint, sand, plumbing materials, floor and wall tiles, sanitary fittings, timber (include plywood), ironmongeries and roofing materials.

For civil engineering works, the 10 additional materials are RC square pile, cement, steel (fabric reinforcement, guardrails, bitumen, cable stays, PC strand, T40 reinforcement bars, diesel and HDPE pipes.
